Do 2023 you ever think? how wonderful it is, the colour of your car change according to your mood. It’s just like a message, but how is it possible, so let’s read about this in this blog. Colour Changing the car is the next stair of Modification in the technology of the car.
BMW describes it as the world’s first colour-changing car. BMW unveiled its updated version of its colour-changing car technology at the Consumer Electronics Show 2023 (CES) in Las Vegas. BMW’s E Ink – powered colour – Changing concept went from monochromatic to a veritable rainbow of various shades and tints in just a year. The concept car, called the BMW iX FLOW, uses electronic ink technology normally found in e-readers to transform the car’s exterior into a variety of patterns in gray and white. “This is energy efficient colour change using the technology E Ink, “said BMW research engineer Stella Clarke. So we took this material – it’s kind of a thick paper – and our challenge was to get this on a 3D object like our cars.
BMW included the colour – Changing exterior as part of a suite of features that it said are intended to create a stronger bond between people and their cars. The “Dee” in the name stands for Digital Emotional Experience. The Dee’s outer skin is a film made of electronic paper built by a startup called E-Ink. The electronic coating is “ultra-low power,” so Changing the car’s colour won’t drain the Electric vehicle’s battery, E Ink said in its press release on Thursday.
“With the BMW i Vision Dee, we are showcasing what is possible when hardware and software merge,” said BMW Group chairman Oliver Zipse.
“In this way, we can exploit the full potential of digitalization to transform the car into an intelligent companion. “
When stimulated by electrical signals controlled by the phone app, the material brings different pigments to the Surface, causing the car to take on a different shade or design, such as racing stripes.
In the future, the changes would also be controlled by a button on the car’s dashboard or perhaps by hand gestures, Clarke said.
No energy is needed to maintain the colour the driver selects, according to BMW.
“My favorite use case is the use of colour to influence sunlight reflections”, said Clarke. “On a hot, sunny day like today, you could switch the colour white to reflect sunlight. On a cold day, you could switch it black to absorb the heat.”
Through the vehicle displayed at CES could only alternate between gray and white, the technology will be expanded to cover a spectrum of colour, according to BMW.
BMW has not released specs for the Dee’s engine or battery but says the concept car is additionally loaded with futuristic hardware and software that’ll be available in cars on the road by 2025.
As with any concept vehicle, the technology behind the Dee’s colour-changing capabilities is likely years away from consumer availability. Exposer the element in day-to-day Driving – from car washes to flying insects – keeps the high-tech panel from performing in the real world.
BMW car is meant as a glimpse of what could eventually be a much more colourful future.
